Take A Hike by Upper Thames Brewing Company

Today I have a bright orangey/yellow brew called Take a Hike Double Dry Hopped Ale by the Upper Thames Brewing Company in Woodstock, Ontario. It's light colour and foamy carbonation paint a beautiful picture in the glass. Don't be fooled by it's good looks though; this pretty lady packs a hefty 6.0 % punch and is not to be taken lightly.

Now we take this lady to taste town

Delicious. It's fruity, but not in a spritzer kind of way. The initial taste is hoppy, but not over done and it slides nicely to a light easy finish. There's nothing here not to like, as far as I can see. I like the opening number, I like the middle act and I like the big finish. It's a good, easy drinking beer.

As I mentioned earlier, this beer is a little beefy, so use your best judgement when deciding how many of these puppies you want to get into. Are you prepared for the social media videos of your best dance moves? Will you be able to handle the boys at work breaking your metaphorical balls everyday for at least 3 days? You decide, amigo. You decide.

As one would expect, an IPA, even a double dry hopped one, should be served in an IPA glass. I feel like I'm repeating myself here. Get the right glassware already!

My rating: 8.5/10

As you may have gathered by now if you follow this blog, my lovely wife is my second sipper and she's not a fan of IPA's for the most part. This beer is no exception.

My wife's rating: 1/10
