Hello and welcome to Beers and Such, the craft beer review site that almost never does anything else, despite the name of the blog. I will probably get around to doing some non-beer related reviews, but I don't know when. In the meantime, here's a beer review.
Today we are going to take a look at a beer called Holy Roller by Toboggan Brewing Company in London, Ontario. The name for this beer is, Holy Roller, is named after a tank that landed in Normandy on D-Day and helped liberate Europe and survived WWII. It's currently resting in Victoria Park, London.
A portion of this proceeds of the sale of this beer go towards the preservation of the Holy Roller, and also to support our Canadian Veterans. That's a good cause, and I hope you'll pick one of these up even if it's just to support the man and women of Canada's armed forces.
The beer itself is a lager, it's just under the average for beer at 4.7%, and it smells just like a beer. I haven't done many lagers on this site, but today this lager gets a moment in my proverbial spotlight.
Let's have a taste.
This beer tastes like a regular beer. Light, crisp, and refreshing. It's easy going, and easy drinking. A guy could easily forget the beer in his glass is a craft beer at all. That's not a bad thing, my friends. I'm guessing it tastes just like it was meant to taste, and it's worth a go.
This beer fits in any beer drinking situation, really. It would be right at home in a sports bar somewhere, on the golf course, or cleverly hidden in some kind of innocent looking container while you quietly pretend to enjoy being at a family reunion. It's very versatile.
My rating: 8/10. I don't really get excited about lagers, but I like this beer and I like it has a cause to contribute to.
My lovely wife and second sipper is not a fan of IPAs and this one is anything but an IPA, so she really liked this one.
My wife's rating: 7/10. I think that's the highest she's ever rated a beer on this site.
There you have it, friends. Holy Roller by Toboggan Brewing Company in London, Ontario is a beer that not only tastes like a beer, but it supports two good causes. Check out the rest of Toboggan's offerings at tobogganbrewing.com
